THE APOSTILLE CONVENTION HAS ENTERED INTO FORCE IN GUATEMALA
As of the 18th of September 2017, documents destined for use in Guatemala will no longer require consular or embassy legalization. With this Guatemala became in one of 115 states that recognize the apostille.
In simple terms, Guatemala will now accept any foreign document that has been issued with the apostille. Therefore, the process for legalizing documents for use in this country is now much easier.
The powers of attorney and documents that have effects before third parties must be registered and recorded in the General Archive of Protocols.
