It will be effective on April the 27<sup>th<\/sup><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Among other matters, it includes the following:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Article 90 defines what is not to be considered as a trademark, including geographic places, maps and other types of designations that can be considered as confusing or violating antitrust laws.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This amendment provides a section regulating designations of origin and geographical indications, establishing that the protection for designations of origin and geographical indications will rely on a declaration made by the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It also establishes the regulating matters regarding foreign designations of origin in Mexico, which had no rules prior to this amendment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>AMENDMENT FOR THE MEXICAN LAW OF INDUSTRIAL PROPERTY<\/p>\n<p>On March 13th of 2018 the amendment of the Mexican Industrial Property Law was published.
