BOLIVIA, COLOMBIA, ECUADOR AND PERU <\/strong><\/p>\n

COMPULSORY LOCAL INTEREST PROOF FOR ANDEAN OPPOSITIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n

Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru share the same Intellectual Property Law. Even though these Andean Community countries do not have an Andean trademark which is valid in all four countries, owners of registered trademarks or pending applications in any country may use them as grounds to oppose in the others<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/strong><\/p>\n

The only condition for the admission of these so called Andean oppositions is the need to file an identical trademark application in the country that the opposition is being filed.<\/p>\n

This requirement is compulsory and is considered as proof of local interest in the market. Failure to file an application entails the abandonment of the opposition.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
