of 2018, Colombia approved the Nagoya \u2013 Kuala Lumpur Protocol on liability and compensation regarding genetically modified organisms, supplementary to the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In Colombia, the use of living modified organisms has been approved in order to resist pests and create tolerance to herbicides, consequently contributing to a greater productivity of industrial, agricultural, environmental and research processes.<\/p>\n<p>The new approval of this Protocol is further evidence of the importance of adopting international regulations that enforce rules and procedures to protect the country\u2019s biodiversity from potential damages arising from the use, handling and transfer of genetically modified organisms and their
