Simon Otalora joined Posse Herrera Ruiz in 2022 and is a member of the tax litigation and controversy practice. His practice focuses on advising and representing clients in administrative and judicial proceedings against national and local tax authorities.
He has experience in the preparation and filing of tax refund requests, as well as in handling tax audit processes conducted by tax authorities. In this context, he prepares responses to information requests and special requirements, administrative appeals, claims before the administrative courts, and other submissions within tax procedures.
Simon has advised clients across various industries, including mining, hospitality and entertainment, food and beverages, telecommunications, and oil and gas, which allows him to address tax controversies with a sector-specific and strategic approach.
Additionally, he has served as a researcher at the Colombian Institute of Tax Law (ICDT), participating in the analysis of State Council case law from a technical and specialized perspective.
