DECREE OF THE MINISTRY OF TRADE, INDUSTRY AND TOURISM
Changes to the Colombian Customs Regime
Through Decree 349 of 2018, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Tourism partially modified the two existing Colombian Customs Codes (Decree 2685 of 1999 and Decree 390 of 2016)
Among the main changes to be noted, all sanctions or seizure of merchandising due to committing any formal infraction was eliminated, as well as some fines due to committing substantial infractions were reduced. Also, additional benefits for the Authorized Economic Operators were set forth, such as preferential treatment in customs controls; and the direct declaration before customs authorities by importers or exporters was also established.
