INDECOPI LEADS DEVELOPMENT OF NATIONAL INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY POLICY WITH WIPO’S SUPPORT
The Peruvian Intellectual Property Office (INDECOPI) signed an agreement with WIPO on July 11th 2018 for the drafting and development of the Intellectual Property Policy in Peru
The National Intellectual Property Policy seeks to set guidelines to promote the transformation of the Peruvian society ensuring the respect, value and use of the intellectual property system. It will be drafted by INDECOPI in collaboration with more than 40 public and private institutions, companies and academia that are related with intellectual property matters. WIPO will provide technical support.
With this policy the country’s aim is to contribute to its competitiveness, cultural, social and economic development upon the use and exploitation of intellectual property in creative activities, entrepreneurship and innovation programs that have been stimulated by some public institutions such as the Ministry of Production, the Ministry of Education, the National Council of Science, Technology and Innovation and the National Institute of Agrarian Innovation.
