Odinsa S.A., Grupo Argos’s concessions company, advances in the creation of an investment platform for toll road assets in Colombia and the region, as part of its strategy to continue to expand, strengthen and consolidate its presence and participation in toll road infrastructure projects.
On September 2, 2021, Odinsa accepted the offer presented by Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets (“MIRA”) and its affiliate, Macquarie Infrastructure Partners V (“MIP V”), a private fund specialized in infrastructure investments, managed by Macquarie Asset Management, for the sale of 50% of Odinsa’s shareholdings and investments in toll road concessions in Colombia and interests in certain pipeline projects, and further contribution of the same to the investment platform. As a result, Odinsa and MIP V will become investors of the Platform and such Platform will, in turn, hold the combined stake in the relevant toll road concessions. The closing of the sale and purchase agreement is subject to the completion of conditions precedent, including obtaining required governmental authorizations and other required consents, as customary in these types of transactions.
The investment Platform will manage Odinsa's current road assets in Colombia, including Pacífico 2, Túnel Aburrá Oriente, Autopistas del Café and Malla Vial del Meta, with a consolidated valuation close to COP 4,3 trillion Likewise, the platform will manage the initiatives that Odinsa has been leading to date in the roads sector in Colombia, among which are the Perimetral de la Sabana and the Conexion Centro; as well as the eventual expansion of the Túnel Aburrá Oriente concession and new projects to be included to the Platform.
This achievement is important not only for Odinsa and Grupo Argos, but for Colombia, as it is evidence of support from a great partner such as Macquarie Asset Management, one of the most important global asset managers with more than USD 450,000 million in assets under administration, of which $107,000 million is dedicated exclusively to capital investments in infrastructure worldwide.
